Training and Career Opportunities at Haven

Ixion, part of the Shaw Trust, and Haven are offering a Customer Service course running from 04/07/2022. 

This course will run for 5 days and is fully remote. Everyone who attends the course will be guaranteed an interview with Haven. 

The locations of the Haven resorts are in Great Yarmouth and Caister-On-Sea.   

By the end of the course learners will gain a BTEC Level 1 Award in Principles of Customer Service. As well as having the option of completing a Food Hygiene Certificate.

Support with Living Costs

Norfolk County Council’s Cost of Living Support Scheme has a £7.7m package of support to help households struggling to pay for food, fuel, energy and water bills, and other essentials. Support is available on their website at Norfolk website or by contacting them on 0344 800 8020.

Residents in Need can apply to the Norfolk Community Foundation for grants of up to £50 per household to help older people, disabled people and carers with the cost of household energy bills and other regular utility bills. Norfolk Household Support Fund

Empowering communities for winter resilience: There is funding to develop capacity in any services that support vulnerable people in their community to stay safe, well and connected this winter Empowering Communities Fund

Cost of Living Vouchers: Families that are eligible for free school meals will automatically receive a monthly ‘cost of living’ voucher. The vouchers will be £15 per month, per child. There’s a larger payment of £30 for August, to coincide with the school holidays. The vouchers will be paid up to and including October 2022. The vouchers are provided by Edenred, which can be used in all supermarkets for essentials, including clothing. Find out if you are eligible here: eligible for free school meals.

Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) helps people in financial hardship to pay for their living costs. The scheme can provide emergency financial help, supply essential household goods and furniture and give support, guidance and advice. Nourishing Norfolk: Community supermarkets and community fridges offer a long-term solution. They offer a wide range of affordable groceries and enable people to choose the food they would like to buy so they can put together well-balanced, nutritious meals. Norfolk County Council is supporting Norfolk Community Foundation’s Nourishing Norfolk movement to develop 15 food hubs in Norfolk. Tricky Period and Toiletries: All Norfolk Libraries have free bags of sanitary products and toiletries available to grab and go. They are freely available and there is no need to ask. More information about what is available is on Norfolk County Council’s website:

Community Learning: Norfolk’s Adult Learning service is running the following courses. Find out what’s available and book online:

  • Budgeting courses such as “beat the bills”. 
  • Cooking courses in conjunction with Community Supermarkets.
  • Family learning activities in school holidays.

Help with paying water bills: Norfolk County Council is working with Anglian Water to help older, vulnerable residents with their water debts. Anglian Water will be getting in touch with all those on the social tariff who are eligible for support. However, if you know someone of any age who is struggling to pay their water bills please they should contact Anglian Water directly.

New Litter Bins Installed

Bradwell Parish Council is pleased to report four new litter bins have been installed this week in the following locations:

  • Beaufort Way – next to Bluebell Woods
  • Beaufort Way – next to bus shelter
  • El-Alamein Way
  • Royal Sovereign Crescent – leading to Lumsden Close

The bins and weekly emptying costs were budgeted for from the parish precept.

East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Trek 24

Help save lives and sign up to the East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Trek 24 

 EAAA is a helicopter emergency medical service providing expert critical care at the scene to patients who’ve suffered life-threatening injuries or medical emergencies.

Our upcoming Suffolk Coast Path trek is taking place on the 11th of June, starting at Sotterley Estate. This has incredible sites including wildlife-rich wetlands, ancient heaths, shingle beaches and historic towns and villages. All trekkers will receive full support from our team, including training tips and help with fundraising.

To date, Trek 24 has raised over £200,000 for our life-saving charity and by taking part in the event this year, you can help us to push the service forward.

A47 Gapton Hall Road roundabout – traffic signal replacement

Please see the below from National Highways:

We plan to carry out work to renew the traffic signals on Gapton Hall Road roundabout.  

We plan to complete this work over 3 weeks between Tuesday 3 May and Tuesday 24 May. We will work between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.  

Closures and diversions 

Whilst we carry out this work, the road will remain open to traffic but in order to carry out the work safely, we will need install temporary traffic signals on the roundabout to manage the traffic.

Norfolk Seasonal Tourism Survey

This survey is part of the Norfolk County Council EXPERIENCE project and is about Winter  tourism. It will be carried out every six months over a 3-year period, focussing on winter and summer tourism alternately, you may have seen the previous one issued in September about Summer tourism.

  • The results will be used to tailor the activities of the project and to better understand the benefits and disadvantages of tourism for local people.
  • Anyone who is over 18 and a resident in Norfolk can take part.
  • There’s a prize draw for £40 of Jarrold vouchers for participants (excluding employees of Norfolk County Council and their families, and anyone involved in the prize draw).
