Chairman’s Statement passing of Queen Elizabeth II

HM Queen Elizabeth II
1926 – 2022

Chairman’s Statement:

It is with immense sadness that Bradwell Parish Council has heard of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Along with so many others, our reaction is one of profound sorrow for all the members of the Royal Family and to give thanks for a life well lived and much admired.

Bradwell Parish Council offer our heartfelt and very deepest sympathy to the Royal Family. They have lost, a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother; as a nation we have lost one of the most remarkable figures of the last century.

Throughout her life the Queen demonstrated exemplary dedication and commitment to serving the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth and supported countless organisations and charities.

Here in Bradwell, the Queen will always be remembered for her humility and duty to her country, which helped to foster the genuine love and affection in which she was held by all of us.

A47 Breydon Bridge Maintenance

Please see the below from National Highways

Dear Sir/Madam

A47 Breydon Bridge

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out essential bridge maintenance work on the A47 Breydon Bridge. Work will include replacing the hydraulics and control panel for the lifting mechanism of the bridge.

We are carrying out this work to replace obsolete systems that still run on the bridge. By undertaking this work now, we avoid any future emergency closures that could result from breakdowns of these obsolete components.

We plan to complete this work over 7 months from Sunday 4 September to Friday 10 March 2023, weather conditions permitting.

Most of this work will be carried out on scaffolding placed under the bridge. This will minimise the extent of our road closures and traffic disruption as much as possible.

Closures

To allow us to carry out the work safely, we will work under temporary traffic signals during the day, with working hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm, up until Sunday 26 February 2023. Both directions of travel across the bridge will still be possible, but you may experience delays.

We will also need occasional closures of the bridge. Details of these upcoming closures can be found in the table below:

DateImpact
Sunday 4 September to Wednesday 7 September Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 September Sunday 25 to Wednesday 28 September Wednesday 12 October Thursday 10 and Friday 11 November Thursday 12 January 2023Monday 23 January 2023  Overnight closures of Breydon Bridge between 8pm and 6am
Monday 24 to Friday 28 OctoberNo road closures or work planned due to October half-term
Monday 19 December to Tuesday 3 JanuaryNo road closures planned during Christmas and New Year.
Tuesday 27 January to Sunday 1 February 2023 Overnight road closures for barrier and scaffold removal between 8pm and 6am
Monday 30 January to Sunday 26 February 2023 Off-peak day closures: 9:30am – 3:30pm

More details on the scheduled daytime off-peak closures scheduled for 2023 and a scheme progress update will be communicated before Christmas.

Diversions

Whilst the above closures are in place eastbound traffic will be diverted from the A47 at Trowse Newton to travel southbound on the A146. Traffic will then join the A143 at Gillingham to re-join the A47 at Beccles Road, A47 interchange. Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion as above but in reverse.

A map of the diversion can be found attached.
